The ‘Career As A Dog Trainer’ course is designed for anyone interested in working with dogs. You may hope to work as a self employed Dog Trainer running your own classes, one-to-one training or Home Visit Behavioural consultations. Alternatively, you may want to work for an established Company as a Dog Trainer, Instructor, Behaviourist or Dog Walker. People from all walks of life attend our ‘Career As A Dog Trainer’ course. We have attendees ranging from people with no experience of ever owning a dog through to participants that have been working with dogs all their life, but are looking to learn the finer points of how dogs learn, how to successfully coach owners and how to build up their own dog training, dog walking, residential training or home visit 121 business. We illustrate how to apply years of animal research into daily dog training, we look at the most successful methods of getting the best results for dogs and dog owners alike. The course explores how the dog’s mind works, how best to motivate the dog you’re teaching and how to apply the best reward system to ensure the behaviours you teach stay learned! Hi Steve I want to take this opportunity of thanking you for a great couple of days. Having run my own outdoor activity centre for over 12 years, and as a learning support assistant to emotional and behavioural teenagers, I have heard shed loads of different teachers so it was refreshing to hear a humble teacher/trainer who is not only interested in showing off their own ability but to gain as much from the individuals as possible and also to let on how you stuffed up in the past too!! You pitched every topic brilliantly and with a great sense of humour! To come to someone with such a lovely positive and open style suited me and my style down to the ground. Following the course I attended on the 18th & 19th of November, I thought it appropriate to give you my thoughts. I thoroughly enjoyed the two days, I found it hugely beneficial to the work I do at my local club, from positive reinforcement, classical conditioning the three D’s, all are just a few of the methods I will be introducing in my training sessions. ‘Fantastic’
I’m just letting you know your training was not a waste of time, quite the opposite in fact. You've infected me with the bug for understanding and helping the crazy doggy world. I was very, very nervous of attending your class, as my hearing aids are not working, but had no problem with hearing what you had to say. The snippet you made about not using words and having days of 'no talking' was music to my ears, so to speak.
